Ring any bells? Well, folks, I’ve got news for you! You CAN play jazz, right here, right now!
Welcome friends and ukulele enthusiasts! Allow me to introduce myself. I am Nikos Voutsinas aka Ukulele Nick. I’ve been studying, teaching, and playing jazz standards for over 25 years.
If you already know your basic chords and you’ve mastered some of those tricky barres, you can start playing jazz this very minute! All it takes is proper guidance and a little bit of practice each day! I’ve created this Workshop with one goal: to help ukulele players who struggle with jazz chord soloing and improvising to become better, in an easy-going and practical way.
We start with the basics, understanding the theory behind things while we study and conquer each jazz standard along the way. We will learn new chords, discover fascinating colors to paint upon our music palette, and dive into the ocean of environments and scales that are flowing around a jazz progression. We will begin improvising – slowly at first – over tunes, we will create our own beautiful chord melodies on this little instrument while enjoying playing and demystifying the music we’ve always loved!
